Anonymous asked: You know, I'm gay. I've read the bible 5 times. I've prayed night after night. I've looked for signs and help and answers.I've begged God for help. I wrote Taylor 4 years ago and she responded. She told me it was okay. That she loved me and that there were a lot of other people who loved me for being me too. It was through her and the people who love me that I was able to reconcile myself. So, to answer your post: Taylor Swift saved me from self-loathing. I can never thank her enough for that.

Well, Taylor is absolutely right!! You are loved, so so loved. I am so glad that Taylor saved you from that, because you deserve to know that you are loved. I love you, and I don’t even know who you are.

As for God, all I know is this:

1. He loves you too. A whole lot.

2. He doesn’t give up on anyone. Sometimes, though, we want our prayers to be answered a certain way. We want to be told that we can do exactly what we want and have exactly what we want. I love an analogy that one of my friends once used; it’s something that I definitely used to be guilty of - we treat God like a “Vending Machine God”. We go to Him only when we want something, and when we don’t get what we want, we get mad at the machine, assume it’s broken, and leave.

God loves you a lot and will never, ever give up on any of us. The problem is us, humans. None of us are remotely capable of loving Him the way that He loves us, so sometimes we get discouraged, and we give up on Him.

What I would urge everyone to remember is that even if you did give up at one point, there’s never a time when God will say, “Well, she just doesn’t love me enough, so that’s it, I’m done with her.” He will always be ready for us to come running back into His arms. He really really cares about us and wants to give us what we need. We just have to trust that He knows what He’s doing.
